Report on BJP scandals to come by Oct-Nov: Congress leader

Dehra Dun: The K L Bhati inquiry commissionwould complete its report on the alleged scandals of theformer BJP government in Uttarakhand by October-November, atop Congress leader has said.




Congress general secretary and in-charge of party affairsin Uttarakhand, Chaudhary Birendra Singh told reporters herelast evening that after the completion of the inquiry report,the government would initiate legal action against the guilty.




A decision to this effect was taken by the coordinationcommittee of the ruling Congress, he said, adding, "those whohave looted Uttarakhand should not go scot-free".




"We have decided that the report on the BJP scandalsshould come by Oct-Nov so that legal action can be initiatedas early as possible," he said. In this regard, he cited the example of the previous BJPgovernment which failed to bring the report in its five-yearold tenure on the alleged scandals of the N D Tiwarigovernment. "We don't want any inquiry where the report nevercomes. We have told the chief minister that we want the reportand guilty should be punished".




In April this year, Bahuguna set up a one-man inquirycommission headed by Bhati, a retired IAS officer to probe aseries of scandals that rocked the BJP government.




In June last year, the state Congress has submitted achargesheet to the then president Pratibha Patil against theBJP government headed by Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on thescandals.




The commission is probing alleged irregularities inallotment of 56 hydro-power projects, Citurgia housingproject, maha kumbh mela and various other projects during thetenure of former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank whichalso forced the BJP high command to go for a change of guardin September last year, just few months before the Assemblyelections.
