Banned outfit of SIMI responsible for Lucknow violence, reports

Lucknow: The Friday violence of Lucknow was the hand-work of an off shoot branch of banned organization of Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). The outfit was under the scanner of UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).

The outfit allegedly was active, distributing a provocative video and pamphlet among the youths in particular areas of old city for last 10 days. The members of the outfit had also given a call to all the youths to assemble at Tile Wali Masjid for Alvida prayer on Friday and allegedly instigated to register the protest by taking a march to Hazratganj, confirmed intelligence sources. 

The group was alegedly responsible for the Friday furor; they had been distributing pamphlets with inflammatory messages and apparently had asked the people to assemble in Tilewali Mazid for Friday prayers. The reportedly provoke the mob, that took to the street and vandalised the area of Hazratganj and Gautam Budha Park. 

The videos contained "doctored" inflammatory messages about the violence in Assam and Myanmar. The group distributed pamphlets asking people to assemble in large numbers and react on this issue. 

As a result of the messages a gathering of over 10,000 people had assembled at the Tile wali Maszid. 

The Home Department and DGP office were forewarned about the possibility of disturbance by the Intelligence Headquarters.
