New Delhi: The recent attacks on people from the north-East region of our country has send grim reminder about the fragile state of social structure in our country. Rumors and threats have created a sense of fear among people. People have been forced to leave cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune in thousands of numbers.

Some miscreants with devious intentions are trying to harm the peace of our nation for their ulterior motives.

Here are the guidelines for all if you which would go a long way in quashing these rumours:

-SMS/ phone messages/ Social networking websites like Twitter/ Facebook/ Posters/ Banners can be used to spread inflammatory messages related to violence in Assam.

-People on social media- Facebook and twitter need to be extra careful about messages related to Assam violence.

-People giving inflammatory messages in speech during public gatherings and functions.

In case, if you have encountered any of the above, immediately contact your nearest police station/chowki/PCR van/booth and inform them.

In case if you are unable to reach a police personnel/post, call on number 100 and inform.

There is a 'report abuse' button given on all social networking websites. People on social networking sites should immediately report suspicious messages to the website and see to it that the material has been taken off from the website.

A small initiative from your side will go a long way in maintaining peace in our beloved nation.
