Ace Australian fast bowler Brett Lee announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on 12 July 2012. He, however, will continue to play in the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League. He had already announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2010.
Brett Lee, 35, made his debut in the international cricket against India in the Melbourne Test in 1999. In a career spanning 13 years he played 76 Tests, 221 One Day Internationals and 25 T20 internationals. A bowler with frightening speed and sheer accuracy, he claimed over 700 international wickets (310 in Tests, 380 in ODIs and 28 in T20s). He has taken 10 five-wicket hauls in Tests and 9 five-wicket hauls in ODIs. He is also the first bowler to take a hat-trick in T20 cricket.
Born in Wollogong in Australia, on 8 November 1976, Brett Lee ended his stint with the Australian Cricket Team as one of its most successful bowler in the history. He is the second highest ODI wicket-taker for Australia after Glenn McGrath (seventh all-time) and one of only four Australians to take more than 300 Test wickets.
Lee has also been associated with the Indian Premiere League since the cricket extravaganza had commenced in 2008. Though, he is now the part of Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders, in the previous four seasons he played for the Kings 11 Punjab.
