Here's how to avoid bad hair days, forever

Don’t you just hate those bad hair days, when all you can do is negcurse yourself for not having born as a stylist? Sangeetha Raj helps you deal with all your hair blues...
1. According to a popular myth, shampoo alone is an ample solution for problematic hair. What people forget is that to condition is as important as to clean. Therefore, a conditioner is a must for every hair wash. When the shampoo gets rid of all the dirt and grime on your scalp, your conditioner brings in that extra shine that we yearn for. It’s important to note that nourishment for the scalp and hair goes hand-in-hand.
2. The first thing to hair care is to simply identify your hair type. Is it curly or straight? Frizzy or dull? Once that’s done, deciding a set pattern for nourishment won’t be much of a hassle. Also, one of the primary points to note is the brush you use. A good hair brush can even touch the roots improving blood circulation.
3. Food is essential — not that regular munch of chocolate we enjoy but the healthy types such as omega fatty acids, flax seeds, cod liver oil, apples, eggs and almonds. Another very important addition to your diet must be loads of water.
4. As appealing as it sounds, chemical straightening is still a form of torture to your hair. Even if you decide to opt for it, make sure you invest adequate funds in a hair spa to take care of your hair. Also, if you choose to colour your hair, opt for shampoos manufactured for coloured hair. If you take care of the colour, it takes care of your hair.
5. According to many people, straightening is the only solution for curly and frizzy hair, which is a myth as straightening further dries frizzy hair, worsening its current state. Embrace your curls. Give that messy look a chance and it’ll work you wonders.
6. At any time and given spot, natural hair is always the best option. Without permanently altering it, you can style up your hair in any desired manner that suits your state of mind. Curly or straight, each hair type is different and unique.
7. Go for something different. Try out various hairstyles. Braid you hair or go completely Afro. Give yourself that pixie look and be different. We all are victims of the fear of being ostracised when we should just stand out in the crowd and dare to be wild.
8. Extreme blowdrying and ironing your hair may lead to excessive damage. Therefore, always use a thermal protector spray before ironing as it will protect your hair from intensive impairment. Also, spraying it on helps your hair to retain that shine and straightening for the next three days.
9. Liven up your hair by using a lot of hair accessories such as clips and hair bands of different colours and styles. Try to mix and match them with your whole attire to give off a ‘funky’ look. However, choose them wisely with due consideration to age.
10. Finally, it is most important to understand that it’s hair and that it will always grow, no matter what. So, don’t be depressed over short hair as it will ultimately grow. Instead, change the way you look at it. A happy you leads to happy hair.
