German logistics Deutsche Bahn tied up with Moser Baer for Clean Energy Project

4th Aug 2012

German Logistics Company Deutsche Bahn (DB) PV plant on 3 August 2012 tied up with Indian company Moser Baer to build a solar park that will generate electricity. Moser Baer Clean Energy had already set up a photovoltaic plant on a railway-owned surface in Wittenberge, Germany.

The solar power is likely to be located on former 8-hectare dump site. It has the power generation capacity of 3.92 megawatts-peaks (MWp) that will help to meet the needs of 900 households annually.

DB has also installed number of PV plants on railway station roofs at Uelzen, Hamelin and the Berlin Central Station from 1997. It has also classified the use of solar energy from late 2010 to identify surfaces that can be used for renewable energy in Germany. Besides this, 3 million square feet of area was already selected for setting solar plants.
