Coalgate: PM to address nation on Monday

New Delhi: Expressing hope that the BJP will allow Parliament to function, the Congress said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address the nation on coal scam on Monday.

Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit said the Bharatiya Janata Party's demand of Prime Minister's resignation is "ridiculous".

A Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has said that lack of transparency in allocation of coal blocks to private players resulted in a notional loss of Rs 1.85 lakh crore to the exchequer.

Asked if Singh could address the nation if the BJP continued to disrupt proceedings Monday, Dikshit said Finance Minister P Chidambaram spoke about the possibility of the UPA government finding a way out.
