Tata Power signed a long term agreement with Indonesian firm

Tata Power on 20 July 2012 signed an agreement with Indonesian firm PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM) to secure fuel for its thermal power plants. AGM is the 100 percent subsidiary of the Indonesian company PT Baramulti Sukses Sarana (BSSR).

Tata Power already has 30 percent equity stake in Indonesian two major coal producer, PT Kaltima Prima Coal and PT Arutmin Indonesia. Apart from this, Tata Power’s 100 percent subsidiary Khopoli Investments Limited also inked an agreement acquired 26 percent stake in BSSR. It is likely to hold about 1 billion tonnes of coal in South and East Kalimantan in Indonesia.





Recently, Tata Power organized the second 800 megawatt of 4000 megawatt Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Gujarat. The company is importing coal from Indonesia for this project. Also the company thermal power generation capacity stands at 5247 megawatt and the generation through clean sources like hydro, wind and solar at 852 megawatt.
Currently, Tata Power’s total generation capacity stays at 6099 megawatt.
