- Indian Grand Master Viswanatan Anand retained the FIDE ( Federation Internationale des Echec) World Chess Title for the record 5th time
- Defeated Boris Gelfand of Israel after 2nd round of tie breaker game in Moscow
- The title has been held by Anand since 2007
